I asked that all the benefits to transfer over, but I was denied. The way I understand it, the county board is saying they are considered a new hire.

They will receive their accrued seniority for vacation and sick leave, but they will have to pay in for a percentage of their retirement and they will not have retirement health insurance for their spouse.

The remodeling includes upgrades that are in conjunction with 911, but they also benefit the sheriff's office. Now we have a new radio system. The remodeling and rearranging is a nice upgrade for our dispatch center.

They don't have a car out all the time, either.

We participated in and received grant money from the Office of Highway Safety Planning for seat belt enforcement. We received a grant for $2,000 to purchase equipment here. We also applied for an OHSP grant for youth alcohol enforcement. We're be participating in the program sometime in 2006.
